Artwork Specifications

File Types

One Color Imprint Jobs:
Our preference is an artwork file that has been originally created in either CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator in (versions 10 or below) or vector-based EPS. Send original vector-based objects exclusively. It is not necessary to export to an EPS file. Please send the native file format (CDR or AI).

For bitmap-based program users (Adobe Photoshop, Jasc Paint Shop, Ulead PhotoImpact, etc): The following GIF export settings apply to one-color artwork only. These settings, along with the “lossless-compression feature” of the GIF file format, will produce a good printable file at a surprisingly small file size.

1.       set your background color to white,

2.       set page size to same as the imprint-area,

3.       create artwork using one color only at 100% fill only (no gradient-fills, no half-tones and no tints),

4.       when artwork is complete, export to a GIF file with following settings:

a)      set anti-aliasing to on

b)      89a format (for transparency),

c)       set image-resolution to 600 dpi,

d)      set number of colors to six,

e)      set dithering to “ordered” and at 50% or more,

f)        set color-pallet to optimized,

g)      set the image-transparency to the same white page background.

Two or more color imprint Jobs:
Submit originally created artwork in either CorelDRAW or Adobe Illustrator in (version 10 or below) or vector-based EPS.

Bitmap artwork (for two or more color jobs), due to the limits in color separations, is not an acceptable format for spot printing. Please email the file. If you would like text added or changes made please provide detailed instructions in your email. We will quote you a fair price for artwork services (modifications, additions, clean up, conversion, or recreation).

Size of artwork

Labels and Decals – size artwork, less an edge margin of 0.10-inch, to the same dimensions of the decal/label.
All other products - size artwork to the imprint area as specified on our website or catalog.

Text

1.       Convert all text to curves or outlines.

2.       Make sure the font-stroke thickness is 7/1000’s (0.007) of an inch (½ point) or more.

3.       Make sure fonts are at least 6-points or larger.

Colors

Our spot-color printing method uses one printing plate per color. Layout artwork using the same color(s) as the final imprint color(s). A spot color model is preferred but not mandatory.

1.       Color of objects should be the same as the final imprint-color.

2.       Set fill, of all objects, at 100% only (no graduated fills, tints or half tones).

3.       Our color registration tolerance is plus or minus 15/1000's (0.015) of an inch.

4.       Imprint colors: Purple, Yellow, Orange, Red, Green, Royal Blue, Light Blue, Magenta, White, Metallic-Gold, Metallic-Silver, or Black.

5.       Yellow is recommended only when using another contrasting color.

6.       Up to five imprint colors.

7.       Colors ideally have a 1/16-inch margin (gap) between.

Objects

All objects, text and line-sizes must have a thickness of 7/1000’s (0.007) of an inch (½ point) or more.

Bitmap Artwork

If the only file available is a bitmap-based image (BMP, GIF, JPG, PCX, TIF) then it must have no more than one color, at least 300 dpi (preferably 600 dpi) and contain no graduated fills, tints or half tones. Web-page sourced bitmap files, due to their low-resolution characteristics, are usually unacceptable. In either case, please email the file. We will quote you a fair price for artwork services.
